Chao Xu is currently a Professor and doctoral supervisor, Associate Dean of the College of Control Science and Engineering, Dean of the Huzhou Institute, Director the Huzhou Key Laboratory of Intelligient Unmanned Systems, also the Founding Director of the Field Autonomous Systems & computing (FAST) Lab, at Zhejiang University (ZJU). Prof. Xu is a senior member of IEEE. His general research interest is Control & Autonomy Systems Technology (CAST), including (aerial and ground racing) robotics, AI (imaging, vision, machine learning, control, etc.) for turbulent flows, data-driven science and engineering, synergy of AI and control.
Prof. Xu received his BE degree of mechanical engineering from Shenyang Aerospace University in 2002 and an MSc degree of applied mathematics from Zhejiang University in 2005, respectively. He obtained his PhD degree of mechanical engineering from Lehigh University (PA, USA) in 2010. He is the Managing-Editor of the Journal of Industrial and Management Optimization, and the Founding Managing-Editor of the IET Cyber-systems & Robotics.
